Miata Trailer Hitch

The Miata is a great little car and a lot of fun to drive. This is a car that’s love by moth men and women of almost every age group and it’s a great tow for behind an RV. It’s also a great choice to tow a small load behind.

Now if you are planning to tow it behind your RV you should be aware that it was never designed to tow and if you tow it with four wheels on the ground even if the trany is in neutral you are going to do some serious damage.

So you have a couple of choices. Do some extensive modifications so you can tow with the rear wheels down, put it on a trailer, install a quick disconnect for the drive shaft, or find a more suitable car for behind your RV and keep your Miata for towing that mini cart to the golf course. Now that’s classy!

The Miata can tow about 1000 pounds depending on the year so check your manual for specifications. Add a Miata trailer hitch and you can have one of those great trips camping, to the golf course, or anything else that suits your fancy.

The Hot Dog is one of the most popular hitches for the Miata. It has plenty of great benefits including the powder coated finish that’s very durable and it’s easy to install. It’s a great choice for your bike carrier or your mini golf cart. It has a rating of 400 pounds with an 85 pound tongue wait. It uses a 1 ¼ inch receiver.

It comes complete with all the hardware you will need to install properly. From 1990 to 1997 bolts are used but for 1999 to 2005 you will need to do some drilling into the frame.

Drivewire also makes a Miata hitch and it’s about 60% cheaper than the one you can buy at your local dealership. It’s as strong, as durable, as rugged, and as dependable. It’s just not as expensive. Drivewire has all their products on line and they also have a catalogue which is exceptionally handy.

There are three Class I receivers designed for the Miata. The rust resistant coating will provide you with years of use. You may need to do some drilling to install correctly.

Pick up your Miata trailer hitch online and save yourself time and money.
