Why Use LED Truck And Trailer Lights

Bulbs or LED lights which will it be? These days we hear a lot about the LED lights and why we should use LED truck and trailer lights.

LED stands for light emitting diode and it is really the latest and greatest technology when it comes to lighting. They are nothing like the traditional incandescent bulbs that we all used for years.

In fact they operate on a completely different concept. There is no metal filament that is brittle and susceptible to vibration or shock. Rather an LED is a solid state device that has no parts that move and it utilizes an electronic chip that is coated with an epoxy substance.

Led’s are very durable. The protective seal is one reason that contributes to their durability because it is protected from any foreign elements.

LED lights are very energy efficient using up to 90% less power than a regular incandescent bulb does. This means the load on your battery or alternator is much less which will save you a great deal of money.

LED lights are measured with a bin or alpha number. The higher the number is the higher the intensity of the light. Color varies with manufacturer.

Another perk is that LED lights do not generate any heat so they are always cool to touch and you can leave them on for hours without ever worrying about them heating up.

And then there is the benefit of longevity. Did you know that an LED can last as much as 100,000 hours. That’s almost 40 times longer than a regular incandescent bulb. An LED will last for more than 20 years before you will need to replace it.

Because LED's do not heat up the wire that is used can be significantly reduced. Incandescent fusing is too much for an LED light so you will need to use the correct fuse sizing to make sure your electrical system isn’t damaged.

Why not move into the modern times? Why use inefficient incandescent bulbs when you can use LED truck and trailer lights?
