Evaluation of the Epson Stylus D92

September 24, 2009 - 6:39 am No Comments

The Stylus D92 is Epson’s latest addition to their budget inkjet printer range. Budget Epson printers have always been better built quality then ones from other brands but the cost of the printer ink cartridges have always been the same as other brands – expensive. Epson D92 ink cartridges use a different type of cartridge than other brands such as Lexmark and HP and they should cost less but they don’t, they’re every bit as expensive in terms of cost per page printed. The good thing about Epson printers is that because of the type of printer cartridges they use compatible ink cartridges for them are very cheap and offer massive saving offer the genuine OEM cartridges. The Epson Stylus D92 doesn’t really offer a lot because it’s just a standard inkjet printer, it doesn’t scan, or copy or any of that stuff it just prints, and it does this surprising well for such a cheap printer. Epson claim that the print quality is down to the DURABrite ink cartridges but the D92 performs just as well with compatible ink installed so it must be down to something else. It most likely down to the fact that it has a high resolution piezo print head install which is capable for producing 5,760 x 1,440 dpi (dot per square inch). Overall The Epson Stylus D92 is a great budget printer and it feels well put together and shouldn’t let you down.

Colour laser printer suitable for the home office

August 20, 2009 - 4:52 am No Comments

Colour laser printers have always been out of reach of the home and small office user in terms of their big outlay in purchasing not just the printer and also the printer cartridges. The Samsung CLP-300 is designed specifically to offer an affordable solution to the home and small office user, it doesn’t cost that much more than an average inkjet printer and it offers all the things that inkjet printers are lacking. Laser printers are usually big bulk machines because they have to house the toner cartridges but the Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges are a unique design which slot neatly into the front of the machine and this means that the overall small of the machine is incredibly compact. Because the Samsung toner cartridges are smaller than usual this means they print less, the three colours yield 1,000 each and the black yields 2,000 pages. When you start printing with the CLP-300 you notice its smooth and quiet operation which is a pleasant surprise and confirms that the build quality of the CLP-300 is very good. The quality of text documents is very good, colour graphics are handled easily although the speed is reduced from 16ppm to 4ppm and can be a little slow when printing documents with a lot of colour graphics. The CLP-300 only failing in terms of performance is its photo printing, the photos look grainy and the colour looks too heavy. Although a lot of thought has gone into the design of the CLP-300 with regards to packaging it seems that Samsung didn’t make much of an effort cosmetically, it looks very basic and not very attractive at all. In summary the Samsung CLP-300 is a good buy for those with very basic print needs. If you need more speed or great photo printing capabilities, you’ll have to spend a lot more money.

Learning Never Stops

When I bought my computer, I thought that the latest released of Intel processor is core2 duo but then when I already have it, there is a core2 quad available in the market. I was a bit late about the computer updates that time. I just had my sour grapes that they always releases new model and the latest don’t last long to be the latest.

On the second thought, what I said is definitely true. When it comes to technology, improvements are faster. They invent this one now, then it not that good tomorrow because they discovered another one better today. Just like on cellphones, new releases of their new models are almost monthly or even weekly. Different features and another added functions is installed with the new model. Just like people, we should not stop discovering about the development of ourselves and keep learning because learning never stops.
